Yellowstone National Park

“Walk away quietly in any direction and taste the freedom of the mountaineer. Camp out among the grasses and gentians of glacial meadows, in craggy garden nooks full of nature’s darlings. Climb the mountains and get their good tidings, Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.” -John Muir

Hot Springs & Geysers

As the Summer sun was setting, a slight chill began to fill the air. We walked along a boarded path amidst a field of hot springs and geysers.

Nyellowstonegeyser2ight was soon approaching, so most people had left. With only each other in sight, we stood silently in awe. The sounds, sights, and smells engulfed our senses. The hissing of steam vents so loud it sounded like a great steamship. Bubbling mud puddles looked otherworldly.  A vast amount of gurgling hot springs filled the air with the smell of sulfur so strong you could almost taste it.  And the geysers, what a wonder to behold. It was magical to be next to large and small geysers erupting. As I stood there watching in reverence, my eyes filled with tears. We live in an incredible world.

Waterfalls & The Wild

“We need the tonic of wildness…At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.”   -Henry David Thoreau
